Spring has sprung here in the Mile High City, and Colorado continues to rise to the top of recent noteworthy national and international rankings. As a state, we have proven our strengths in business, health and wellness, innovation, real estate, and overall happiness.

Many top rankings “showered” upon our great state this spring, and we picked out a few of our favorites that are sure to make any Coloradan proud!

1. Denver ranks No. 2 on U.S. News & World Report’s “100 Best Places to Live in the USA”.

It should come as no surprise to Colorado residents that Denver stood out because of its high rankings in desirability, value, job market, quality of life, and net migration. From easy access to the mountains to growing businesses, there’s something for everyone in Colorado!

2. Colorado ranks No. 5 on WalletHub’s “Most Innovative States.”

The report measured each state’s contribution to the nation’s innovative success, and Colorado was deemed the most innovative in eighth-grade math and science performance, fourth in the share of technology companies, and sixth in both share of STEM professionals and projected STEM-job demand by 2020. Our state continues to push STEM-centric education and workforce training that brings new ideas, inventions, and innovators to the table, changing the way we think, learn, and collaborate nationwide.

3. Colorado ranks No. 2 on Bankrate.com’s list of the best states to retire list.

Millennials aren’t the only ones drawn to Colorado’s many appealing attributes. Colorado rose to the top due to our seniors’ overall well-being (No. 3), healthcare quality (No. 7), and cultural vitality (tied for No. 8). With downtown’s various arts, entertainment, and dining offerings, to the state’s endless recreational opportunities and spectacular views, who wouldn’t want to retire in Colorado’s giant playground?

4. Denver ranks No. 8 on CRBE’s report of best markets for commercial real estate investment in North and South America.

We knew all those cranes in the Denver skyline were working hard! After seven years of consecutive growth in investments sales, Denver has reached its highest spot yet on the list. With projects like the new BP headquarters being built along the Platte River and a stream of new developments popping up in the growing River North (RiNo) neighborhood, business is booming!

5. Denver ties for No. 8 on Smart Asset’s “Top 15 Cities for Women in Tech” list.

Denver scored high for a low gender pay gap, income after housing costs, and tech employment growth categories. Denver is a place for women in tech to shine, with many initiatives and programs for females in technology fields, such as Women Who Startup, a program founded in Denver that is now expanding beyond Colorado, a local chapter of Women Who Code, and Sphero, a Boulder company that honors and highlights women in tech.

6. Denver International Airport (DEN) ranks as the nation’s second-best airport and the world’s 28th-best airport, according to Skytrax “World Airport Awards”. In addition, DEN ranked top in the nation on RewardExpert’s 2017 “Airport Dining Scorecard”.

The World Airport Awards are based on 13.8 million airport survey questionnaires, evaluating traveler experience, airport service, and pleasing features such as new nonstop flights to London, Munich, and Vancouver, the Westin Hotel, and the A-line “Train to the Plane” from downtown’s Union Station.

The Airport Dining Scorecard looked at 75,000 reviews and menus at U.S. airports to determine prices, overall restaurant quality, and variety. With new additions including the trendy Root Down, fan-favorite Elway’s, and to-go Tamales by La Casita, Coloradans and world travelers alike have no fear when it comes to food choices at DEN.

7. Colorado ranks No. 5 on Gallup-Healthway’s list of happiest, healthiest states.

With the lowest obesity rate in the nation, Colorado was a top contender, in addition to high rankings in social relationships, sense of purpose, financial lives, and community involvement. From the endless options of outdoor recreation, the vibrant arts and entertainment scenes, and large number of talent growing our budding industries, Colorado offers the full life experience to folks of all ages, backgrounds, and interests.
